Popularity Of Sasha Obama’s Dress Provides Help To Children

New York, February 3, 2009 -- The tremendous response to a dress manufactured by Les Tout Petits and worn by Sasha Obama to the Kids Inaugural Ball has inspired the company to help children in poverty.  Les Tout Petits has been flooded with inquiries about the “mosaic peacock” dress Sasha wore on January 19, 2009, and the company is donating 10% of the proceeds from the sale of each dress to Kids in Distressed Situations, an international charity that helps children and their families overcome poverty.

“In the spirit of trying to effect change and give back, the sale of this dress will help K.I.D.S reach out to our nation’s 13 million children who live in poverty and suffer from distressed conditions,” said the dress’ designer, Lois Letzt of Les Tout Petits.  “K.I.D.S. is dedicated to improving the lives of children who are homeless, domestic abuse victims, children of military families and victims of natural disasters.  We are very proud to supporting their work.”

In December 2006, just before announcing his candidacy for President, Barack Obama spoke at the K.I.D.S. fundraising dinner and recognized the important role that the organization and others like it can play in helping overcome many our society’s challenges:  It is time for a sense of empathy to infuse our politics in America.  K.I.D.S. has spent over 20 years making this a reality. Now it is time for the rest of us to catch up.

Les Tout Petits designs limited edition children’s dresses and sells them to upscale children boutiques around the country.  The company manufactures its entire line in New Jersey.  For more information about the company, visit www.lestoutpetits.com.

PRESS RELEASE

SASHA OBAMA WEARS LES TOUT PETITS BY LOIS LETZT

Sasha Obama, the younger of the “first daughters” of the new president gave Ridgefield, NJ based clothing company a boost Monday night by wearing one of its made-in-New Jersey dresses to a pre-inauguration concert.  The dress was designed by Lois Letzt of Les Tout Petits, an exclusive children’s wear company that designs limited edition children’s dresses and sells them to upscale children boutiques around the country.  Sasha Obama’s dress was bought at a store outside Chicago in Deerfield, IL called Madison and Friends.

Sasha 7, wore the “Mosaic Peacock” dress that retails for about $100, to the Disney-sponsored Kids Inaugural Ball, a televised concert that featured performances by teen idols including Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers. At the end of the show, Sasha and her sister Malia joined the Jonas Brothers on stage, giving the dress exposure that designers dream of. “Even though many celebrity children have worn our clothes through the years, Sasha is the icing on the cake. We’re very proud and honored to have Sasha wear our dress at this exciting time. It is wonderful that she chose a dress that is made here in the USA.  We pride ourselves on manufacturing our entire line here in New Jersey.  The phone has been ringing off the hook with press and stores looking to reorder the dress in long sleeve and short sleeve versions.  We have already ordered and received fabric and have completed the first cutting for all the stores who have called in the last few days.  It is very exciting to be part of something so special at this time.”
